C & D Equipment offers all of its walk-in coolers and walk in freezers with your choice of either indoor, or outdoor, compressor motor / condenser location.

Both the compressor motor, and the condenser are contained in a single unit. The compressor motor powers the walk in coolers cooling system, and the condenser ejects the heat that has been removed from inside of the cooler. Where you locate the compressor motor / condenser unit will determine where that heat is ejected to. If you choose an indoor compressor motor / condenser system, you will have lower initial equipment and installation expense, but the heat from the motor and condenser will be ejected into the same room that the walk-in cooler or walk-in freezer is located. If the walk in cooler is in an un air conditioned room, the temperature of the room will increase. If the walk in cooler is in an air conditioned room, it will force the air conditioning system to work harder to remove the heat from the room.   

All of our outdoor refrigeration packages come with all necessary expansion valves and solenoids. Our outdoor compressor / condenser units also come with all electrical controls required for outside installation, i.e., headmaster valve, crankcase heater, etc., so that your unit will work properly in all weather conditions, whether 20 below zero with snow and ice in a Minnesota winter, or 120 degrees in an Arizona summer.

Even though initial costs for an outdoor compressor motor / condenser will be higher, the energy savings can be substantial over time. We recommend using outdoor packages whenever the noise and the added heat may be of concern to your workers and customers. Consideration must also be given if you are allowed to put the unit outdoors. Building, landlord and/or city restrictions may prevent the unit from being located on the ground or rooftop.
